2018 and my Resolution - Live with Joy!

I am really excited to close 2017 and look forward to the year ahead.  The end of a year is a great opportunity for us to reflect on the past and plan for the future.  The most important thing we can do however, is enjoy the moment.  2017 was a year of celebration! In 2017 my first book was published, "The Project Manager: Life is a Project."   It was a milestone for me and I am very grateful to my family and friends for supporting me and making my dream become a reality.  In addition, I survived my first year at Regent University toward my PhD in Organizational Leadership.  This journey has taught me to improve my time management and to be open to asking for help when I need it.  I finished my four year journey with the Office of Personnel Management Executive Leadership program and the experience and friends I have made through this program continue to enrich my life.  I also completed my multi-year journey and took my final course at the ...

What happened to "Civility" in US Society?

Civility is defined as a formal politeness in behavior and speech. As the Commander of the US European Command retired Admiral James G. Stavridis listed "civility" as one of the traits of a true professional. After recent events in the Untied States I have to question, what happened to civility? I have no doubt that this post will offend someone and for this I apologize as I mean no offense. Instead, I would like to return to the days of a " civil society ," where when one disagrees with you, it does not make them guilty of a hate crime. When democracy called for public argument to uncover truths. When I was young I learned to say "Please" and "Thank you" and treat adults with respect. From my interaction with youth today, basic manners are a lost art. As I grew up I was introduced to Emily Post and Miss Manners as resources to use when I wasn't sure of the correct etiquette.
