So, had a cold for the past week and completely had to drop my training program. Now I am left with the choice of trying to make up miles lost due to illnes or just picking up where I left off. Since this week is scheduled for a 50 mile week, I'm thinking I will just go back to my scheduled program and hope for the best. http://m.runnersworld.com/running-tips/how-to-return-to-training-after-time-off
This weekend while running 16 miles I thought about what a long way sports bras have come in the past two decades. In high school I used to have my fellow cross country runners assist me with ace wrapping my chest and then putting on a "one-size-fits-all" bra over the top. This was a very painful and not terribly effective way to cope with being a well-endowed lady. As I grew up, so did the sports bra industry. One of my favorite bras lookds like a middle-ages torture device, but is in fact one of the greatest inventions ever. I tried on my first Enell sports bra at Boulder Fields and when Kim Larsen headed it to me I said, "You have got to be kidding me." The Enell sports bra is made of a satin type material with 10 hooks and eyes going up the front closure of the bra. Kim swore to me that this was her favorite bra for triathlons, so I decided to by one. After my first tri with this bra, I was hooked. The bra dried quickly and kept the girls from moving...

Google Doodle Celebrates Edith Head

Edith Head is responsible for many iconic fashions that we still wear today. I have always loved her ability to create looks that are fashionable and timeless. It is so wonderful to see her sketches in the Google Logo today. She is proof that fastionable and stylish, doesn't have to be trendy or cheap. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/google-doodle-celebrates-oscar-award-winning-hollywood-costume-designer-edith-head-8908127.html

Fashionable and Reflective

Women’s running gear has come a long way over the past few decades and one of the greatest improvements has been in reflective clothing. As the winter darkness is getting earlier each evening when I run, I am grateful for the awesome products out there that are both fashionable and functional. I also love the options for headlamps and glow sticks that make outfits both safer and more fun. Nightgear is one of my favorite sites to shop for cool reflective gear: http://www.night-gear.com/womens-activewear/ Road Runner Sports is also a great site for gear that is both fun and sporty. http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/gear/gearsafety/ The point is that with all the great products out there today, you don’t have to choose between night safety and fashion. You can wear reflective gear and look cute too.

Boots versus Shoes

Autumn is here and that means shoes are out and boots are back in vogue. Don't get me wrong, shoes are a wonderful delight, but there is something special about boots. I love pulling my boots from storage and reorganizing my shoes closet....interesting, even when it is winter it is still a shoe closet and never a boot closet. Since all of my handbags and scarves are there it could also be called an accessory closet, but I never call it that either...always the shoe closet. So, back to boots. If you are looking for some great boots this season they are out and onsale now: http://www.dsw.com/womens-shoes/ http://www.zappos.com/womens-boots~GC http://www.shoebuy.com/womens-boots-all.htm
